It all started with a trip that never happened.
In 2019, we planned what we thought would be our last big adventure before becoming parents—a trip to Kenya and the Seychelles. Then the world shut down. Like so many families, our plans changed. We welcomed our first son during the pandemic, and for a while, international travel felt like something we had left behind. Then came Costa Rica. What we expected to be one memorable vacation became the beginning of something much bigger. It reminded us that exploration and curiosity don't have to stop when your family grows—they simply look different. Beyond Our Block grew from that realization.
Travel is how we learn together.
We want our boys to grow up knowing there isn't one right way to live because the world is so much bigger than our block. Every destination introduces us to different cultures, traditions, languages, foods, and perspectives, expanding the way we see the world. We believe the more our boys experience, the more curious, compassionate, and confident they'll become.
